PURPOSE:To adjust a conjugation length with simple mechanism by moving either an image forming member or a read means and the 2nd scanner in the optical axis direction to adjust the conjugation length of the image forming member. CONSTITUTION:A CCD 10 is supported to a moving device so as to adjust the conjugation length of a lens 9 and moved in the direction of the optical axis L and the 2nd scanner 6 is also made movable in the direction of the optical axis L. The lens 9 is, however, fixed on the base plate in the direction of the optical axis L and no moving device for the lens 9 is used. Since the 2nd scanner 6 is made movable in adjusting the conjugation length of he image forming member 9 in such a way, either the image forming member 9 or a read element 10 has only to be formed movably and an expensive and complicated moving device is not required and the conjugation length is adjusted by a simple mechanism.
