A doubled plastics strip with pockets formed by vertical welds is advanced by an endless conveying strip (7) passing round return rollers (8). The conveyor has projecting spikes (13) inserted the folded strip and uses a horizontal guide (14) to open the pockets. A supply roll (25) and a reserve roll (26) of the strip are carried by a support (15) which can swing about a vertical pivot axis (16) in the middle for changeover. The leading end of a new strip is advanced by a similar conveyor (31) with spikes (35) along a sloping path adjacent to the main conveyor. At the connection point, in a guide (36) with a suitable bent end (37) to transfer the new strip from its spikes (35) to the spikes (13) of the main conveyor. |
