PURPOSE:To obtain a luminous radiation electron tube of a better luminous efficiency, by furnishing static magnetic field generating sources at specific positions. CONSTITUTION:The distance between an anode and a cathode is made less than the mean free path of electrons, the distance between the anode and the tube wall sufficiently larger than the mean free path of electrons, and static magnetic field generating sources are furnished near the tube wall close to the cathode and near the tube wall at the opposite side of the anode. By applying a DC voltage between the cathode 2 and the anode 3, electrons flying out of the cathode 2 are injected in a luminous space 4 at the rear space of the anode 3 while winding over the lines of magnetic force between the static field generating sources 6 and 6, repeating a reciplocation movement along the lines of magnetic force until they strike the luminous radiation gas sealed in the tube. Therefore, by converting the positions of the static magnetic field generating sources 6 and 6, the distribution of the lines of magnetic force can be converted within the luminous area. When the electrons flying out of the cathode pass on a locus l to penetrate the enclosed plane of the ring-form anode 3, for example, the energy is made fairly lower than the anode potential Va, resulting in an increased luminous efficiency making an even radiation in a desired form of tube body 1.
