Conversion of noxious dispersions to solid prods. - by sepn., drying sludge and evaporating effluent

(A) Processing of noxious dispersions is effected by (a) separating the dispersion into a sludge contg. 25-35% solids and an effluent contg. 1-3% solids; (b) drying the sludge to at least 90% solids on a perforated moving belt through which air with a relative humidity of less than 100% is passed; and (c) evaporating the effluent to produce a powder contg. at least 90% solids. (B) Evapn. of an effluent from a noxious dispersion is effected by concentrating the effluent to 20-30% solids in a multi-stage evaporator and spray drying the prod. to at least 90% solids.
