Thin film amorphous optical recording films

A recording element comprising, as the optical recording layer, an amorphous thin film of an alloy having the formula: (GexTe1-x)1-zTiz wherein, on an atom-to-atom basis, x is from 0.33 to 0.55, and z is greater than zero up to 0.30 is disclosed.
