The ram jet engine consists of a jet engine for high-speed flight, which instead of the conventional, technically complex and thermally sensitive turbines for the intake and compression of air, uses a pitot-type air intake pipe (5), through which the incoming air is decelerated, and thus, because of its intrinsic relative velocity and dynamic pressure prevailing therein, is compressed in a drum chamber (2) closed at the rear by a cover (4). The chamber is also closed by the front cover (3), by rotating the drum (1), and is moved in front of a combustion chamber (7) into which the compressed air can escape by an opening (8) in the rear cover (4), and then be used for combustion. By further rotation, the chamber ultimately reaches a position between a fresh air intake (10) and outlet (11), enabling the chamber to be flushed with fresh air and prepared to receive a further supply of compressed air. |
