摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the rate of fuel consumption, by a method wherein, during the starting of an engine, a mechanical supercharger is coupled to the output shaft of an engine, a bypass passage is shut off by means of a bypass valve. CONSTITUTION:During the starting of an engine before completion of warming-up, an electromagnetic valve clutch 24 is forced into a joined state, and a mechanical supercharger 15 is actuated to close a bypass valve 17. In this case, an electromagnetic clutch 33 of an exhaust turbine 30 is forced into a non-joining state. During low load running after completion of warming-up, the electromagnetic clutch 24 is forced into a non-joining state, actuation of the mechanical supercharger 15 is stopped, and the bypass valve 17 is opened. During high load running, the electromagnetic clutch 33 is forced into a joined state, and a driving force is exerted on the mechanical supercharger 15 by means of the exhaust turbine 30.
