PURPOSE:To aim at compactification in a pump, by installing a guiding means for a casing on a casing side part close to the circumference of an impeller, and making an outer diameter of the pump come nearer to that of the impeller as close as possible. CONSTITUTION:A casing 27 is installed on the side of an impeller 26, and there is provided with a spiral chamber 28 leading to a side part close to the circumference of the impeller 26. When pumping is started, this pumped water is led into the spiral chamber 28 at almost perpendicular from the circumference of the impeller 26, converting velocity energy into pressure energy, and then it is discharged out of a discharge opening 29. Therefore, an outer diameter of the casing 27 can be set to the irreducible minimum of a demand, insomuch that some clearance and wall thickness of the casing 27 are added to an outer diameter of the impeller 26 or so.
