PURPOSE:To rationally contain a traveling speed detecting mechanism by forming a linear magnetic encoder at a center yoke. CONSTITUTION:A linear DC motor 1 is formed in a movable coil type, and a magnetic path is formed by closing both sides of a stator yoke 2 of square-shaped section with side yokes 3. Field magnets 4-1, 4-2 are fixed to the inner surfaces of both sides 2-1, 2-2 of the yoke 2, and a center yoke 5 is provided therebetween. The yoke 5 forms a guide rail for a driving coil 10. A sheetlike linear magnetic scale 6 is secured along the longitudinal direction on the outside of the side 2-2. A linear magnetic encoder is composed of the scale 6 and a magnetic sensor.
