PURPOSE:To improve the indoor vertical temperature distribution and to prevent a body-felt cold air flow from blowing off in the vertical direction during the space cooling operation by determining the direction in which air heat exchanged by a difference between an indoor air temperature and the temperature of an indoor heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:An indoor air temperature detected by a temperature sensor 7 is set in a resistor T1, and a heat exchanger temperature detected by a temperature sensor 8 is set in a resistor T2. If an operational mode is space heating, a calculation of T2-T1, is carried out, and when the calculated value is larger than a predetermined value N, an air flow direction changeover plate 4 is driven so that air is blown off through a vertical blow-off port 6'. When the calculated value is smaller than the predetermined value N, the air flow direction changeover plate 4 is driven so that air is blown off through a horizontal blow-off port 6. In a case where air is blown off in the horizontal direction, when the result of the calculation of T2-T1 is larger than the predetermined value N, the blow-off direction is made vertical, whereas in a case where the vertical blow-off port is used, and the calculated result is less than a predetermined value N1 which is less than the value N, it is changed into the horizontal blow-off port.
