PURPOSE:To improve the positioning accuracy of a work by measuring the work total length by detecting the front and rear ends of the work transferred onto a measuring table with plural detecting means and setting the stopper position based on this measured value. CONSTITUTION:The measuring table 7 equipped with stopping sensors 11, 13 and speed reducing sensors 15 and the transfer table 5 equipped a stopper 3 are provided around a press brake 1. When a work W is carried in and the sensors 15, 11 detect the tip of the work W, the table 7 is reversed and retreated until the sensor 13 detects the rear end of the work W. When the retreating distance l of the work W is measured with this motion, the length of the work W, L=C-l is calculated from the relation with the distance C between the sensors 13, 11. Thereafter, the positioning of the work W is performed by setting automatically the position of the stopper 3 on the table 5 to L/2. In this way, the positioning accuracy of the work can be improved.
