PURPOSE:To improve water-proofnes and plasticizer-resistance by including a chemical compound shown in a prearranged chemical formula in a thermal recording color development layer. CONSTITUTION:A chemical compound shown by a prearranged chemical formula (1) (in the formula, R represents hydrogen or alkyl having 1-8C and n 1-20) is contained in the thermal color development layer of a thermal recording material. The chemical compound shown by the chemical formula (1) is obtained by subjecting cresol and dicyclopentadiene to chemical reaction at 80-100 deg.C in an aromatic solvent such as toluene or xylene in the presence of a catalyst and then to alkylation. A coloring compound, developing compound, binder, and other materials such as filler, thermoplastic compound or surfactant, if necessary are added to the thermal color development layer. Their contents should be 1-50wt% preferably 5-30wt%. |
