PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a rear size and to increase the output of a standard size by roughly rolling a slab, cutting off the front and rear crops, dividing the slab to two parts, and rolling the preceding steel product as the the material for the rear size and the succeeding steel product as the material for the standard size. CONSTITUTION:The slab S ejected from a heating furnace 1 is subjected to reverse rough rolling by a breakdown mill 2 and thereafter, the front and rear crops C are cut by a tongue cut saw 3; at the same time, the slab is divided to the two parts, the preceding roughly rolled steel product 8 and the succeeding roughly rolled steel product 9. The steel product 8 is rolled by a universal roughing mill 5, an edge mill 6 and a universal finishing mill 7. The steel product 9 is fed backward to the heating furnace 1 and is reheated or held to stand by; thereafter, said product is rolled to the size different from the steel product 8 or the same size as the size thereof. |
