The face milling cutter (1) has a cylindrical tool body (2) which is provided at an axial end with radially projecting cutting teeth (3) arranged at an equal distance apart. The flanks (4) of the cutting teeth (3) extend across the tooth back. The rake faces (7) of the cutting teeth (3) form a positive rake angle. The cutting teeth (3) are provided with a titanium nitride coating at the flanks (4), the rake faces (7) and secondary cutting edges (6). The face milling cutter is of integral design and is produced from HSS Co. The face milling cutter can be reground repeatedly by grinding off the rake faces (7), there being no need for special machines, in contrast to conventional HSS cutters, owing to the fact that there are no spiral flutes. In contrast to carbide cutters in which the formation of positive rake angles is not possible and therefore a high cutting force occurs, the demands imposed on the machines with regard to capacity and stability need not be so stringent. <IMAGE>
