PURPOSE:To enable a block copy for each color to be formed securely using effective off-image information when a color image is printed using block copies of different colors by providing a means to record effective off-image information such as registering marks and color identification marks required for plate making on a conventional printer. CONSTITUTION:At a starting point for respective printing actions, firstly it is checked whether registering marks 81, 84 and color identification marks 91, 92 are correctly obtained as effective off-image data, and then the effective off-image data is set in a RAM, After this, the data is read and printed. If printing of a prearranged mark is completed, it is checked whether the mark printed at present is located on the printing start side or end side. That is, when the marks 81, 82, 91 are printed on a bland part 11, an effective image 10 is printed, and if this printing is completed, the printing of the marks 83, 84, 92 is executed on a blank part 112. When it is judged that the mark printed is not the one at the printing start side, all the printing action is to be ended assuming that said mark is the one printed on the blank 112. Thus four block copies of Y, C, M, B can be produced, and also the registering marks or color identification marks can be automatically printed at prearranged positions. |
