PURPOSE:To decide automatically at the time of reproduction whether the signal recorded in an overscan part is a voice signal or new information other than that, by using a means which secures coincidence of the recording pilot frequencies between a video signal recoding part and the overscan part. CONSTITUTION:The difference between the fH and 3fH errors is in the direction opposite to that of an actual tracking error for the case where a video head H1 or H2 is on a recording track with a frequency f1 or f3 and for the case where the head H1 or H2 is on a recording track with a frequency f2 or f4. Thus correct tracking error signal E1 can be obtained by switching a switch 27 with a head changeover signal SW30. Then the normal video information and the voice information can be obtained from the outputs of switches 9 and 10 respectively by carrying out tracking by means of said signal E1.
