PURPOSE:To obtain a primary rust-resisting paint compsn. having excellent weldability during welding and high heat resistance, by blending a binder component composed of a silicic ester precondensate with zinc powder, rutile powder and aluminum powder. CONSTITUTION:A paint compsn. contains a binder component composed of a silicic ester precondensate, zinc powder, rutile powder and aluminum powder. Examples of the silicic ester precondensate are reaction products obtd. by condensing an alkyl silicate monomer or its partial condensate in the presence of an acid catalyst. Spherical zinc powder having a particle size of not larger than 10mu, composed of at least 95% of metallic zinc, obtd. by a distillation method is preferred as the zinc powder. Examples of the rutile powder are powders obtd. by crushing minerals mainly composed of titanium, such as rutile powder, ilmenite powder, etc. Spherical aluminum powder having a particle size of pref. not larger than 44mu is preferred as the aluminum powder.
