An electrochemical reserve cell includes a cylindrical housing (2) a concentric arrangement of a liquid cell component container, a metal anode (5), a porous separator (4), and a porous carbon element (3). The metal anode is cylindrical with a spiral slot (19) extending between its ends and is pressed into a perforated anode support cylinder (15) having adjacent edges welded together. The anode (5) and anode support structure (15) are interlocked together.
