PURPOSE:To precisely true up the side edges of even light-gage steel strips by sucking the bottom surface of the steel strip by means of electromagnetic chucks, attracting the same in the transverse direction of the strip and pressing the side edge of the strip to a reference block. CONSTITUTION:This trueing-up device is constituted of the moving electromagnetic chuck 31a and the two reference blocks 31b. The chuck 31a is inserted to the bottom surface of the steel strip 1 and is energized to suck the bottom surface and to attract the same in the transverse direction of the strip by which the side edge 1a is pressed to the reference block 31b and is thereby positioned at the time of trueing up the side edge of the steel strip 1. Plural units of said trueing-up devices are disposed to a steel strip sizing line. After the side edges of the preceding steel strip are trued up by the trueing-up device, said strip is cut, then the side edges of the succeeding steel strip are trued up by another trueing-up devices and such strip is pressed to the preceding steel strip. The steel strips are then subjected to beam welding. The laser welding with high quality is thus executed by precisely trueing up the side edges of even the light-gage strips of about 0.1mm thickness. |
