Amorphous alloy consists of (by atom. %) 6-10% B, 14-17% Si, 0.1-4.0 Cr and no more than incidental impurities, balance Fe. Amorphous strip material of the above compsn. is produced by melting and continuously supplying a stream of the alloy through a slotted nozzle onto a casting surface within 0.635mm and moving at 61-3048 m/min. The solidified metal is separated from the casting surface. The strip material has a 60Hz core loss of less than 0.163w/1b at 12.6KG, saturation magnetisation (B75H) of at least 14KG, coercive force of less than 0.045 Oe, and is at least singularly ductile. |
