A tablet which breaks down in the mouth, allowing the ingredients to pass easily into the gullet without the aid of a draught of water, contains glycine and one or more sparingly soluble solid medicaments e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, phenacetin or salicylamide, in the ratio by weight of between 3 to 1 and 1 to 3. The tablet is prepared by making a dry mix of the ingredients, each ingredient being of particle size such that they will pass through an 18 mesh B.S.S. sieve and not through a 100 mesh sieve, and compressing the mix under a pressure which will not further reduce the particle size of the ingredients. Other ingredients which may be present are caffeine, codeine, nicotinic acid, soluble saccharins, starch and flavouring materials. |
