PURPOSE:To automatically, accurately and rapidly measure the inside diameter of an internal gear even on the way of rolling conveyance by engaging a gear to be measured of a measuring unit with an internal tooth of the internal gear and measuring the inside diameter while a central axis is held almost horizontally. CONSTITUTION:The whole of an inside diameter measuring instrument 28 is in the retreating position when it does not function and a probe 41 and a sleeve pressing member 44 are retreated from an inclined shoot 13. Then, since when a driving cylinder 30 to actuate the instrument 28 is driven, a supporting plate 33 advances, the whole of the measuring unit advances integrally. In this way, both sides of a sleeve S is supported while being turned by a turning brush 27 between the abutting surface of the sleeve pressing member 44 and a receiving plate 50. Then, the circle diameter dimensions of the sleeve S are detected as the displacement before and behind a reference plate 46 via the probe 41 and a sliding rod 35 and this is measured by a measuring instrument 49 via a measuring terminal 48.
