PURPOSE:To improve a compressing ratio by extracting data of the color information of the dot for the two lines and the color changing point. CONSTITUTION:For (n+1) line data, the data of a scanner 1' are selected by a changing-over circuit 17, and from a line memory 11, to the (n+1)th line which a scanner 1 scans, the timing delayed for one line, namely, the color information of the n-th line dot is outputted. To a changing point detecting part 12, color information 3 of the n-th line and color information 1 of the (n+1) line are both supplied, and when the presence of the changing point on both lines is detected, the detecting result is supplied to a memory control part 13. A changing-over circuit 14 selects either of respective pieces 1-3 of color information by the selecting command from a memory control part 13 and supplies an output 5 to a memory 3'. The memory 3' receives and stores the above-mentioned writing data. Thus, only by adding the information corresponding to the generation of a changing point, the dot string capable of effectively attaining the data compression can be prepared.
