PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of hardware and shorten the access time by checking whether an address to be registered is in an actual address space or not in the stage where an address conversion table is registered and writing information resulting from this check in an address exception part and referring to the exception part at the time of address conversion to recognize a conversion exception or not. CONSTITUTION:Each entry of address conversion buffers 11 and 12 is provided with not only a page address but also an address exception flag. An address exception check circuit 2 checks whether the address to be registered exists in the actual address space or not at the time of page address register and writes the check result in the address exception flag. Address conversion buffers 11 and 12 output data of the read-out address exception flag as an address exception signal AEX as it is at the time of address conversion. Though four address exception check circuits are required in the conventional system, the number of address exception check circuits is reduced to one to considerably reduce the amount of hardware in this system.
