NEW MATERIAL:A diacetylene compound of formula (n is 1-18). EXAMPLE:2,4-Hexadiyne-1,6-dipentylurethane. USE:Useful as a functional material such as a non-linear optical material, memory material, electrically conductive material, etc. A thin film of the compound can be easily formed by vacuum evaporation and the compound has excellent polymerizability. PREPARATION:The objective 2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-dialkylurethane can be produced by chlorocarbonating 2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol with phosgene and reacting the product with corresponding alkylamine.
