PURPOSE:To prevent a solution put in a recessed part from being vaporized and to improve the accuracy of measurement by dipping a sample to be measured in the solution consisting in an organic solvent in the recessed part in a glass plate and coating the peripheral edge of cover glass placed thereupon with grease. CONSTITUTION:When a cell 1 for refractive index measurement is formed on slide glass 1, a material to be measured and immersion liquid are put in the recessed part 3 formed in the glass 2 and the cover glass 4 is mounted thereupon. The outer peripheral edge of the cover glass 4 is coated with the silicone grease 5 in a rod shape and a 'Teflon(R)' sheet 6 whose center part is cut is placed thereupon and pressed toward the reverse surface side to bring the glass 2, cover glass 4, and sheet 6 into contact with one another, thus sealing the recessed part 3. Further, a temperature sensor 7 is fixed with silicone grease in a recessed hole 8 bored in the reverse surface of the cell part of the glass 2. Then, the solution put in the recessed part 3 is prevented from being vaporized and the accuracy of the measurement is improved.
