PURPOSE:To shorten the time of transfer of a transient program from an auxiliary storage device to a main storage device when the transient program is executed, by preliminarily transferring the transient program from a low-speed access medium to a RAM as a high-speed access medium in the auxiliary storage device. CONSTITUTION:In case a transient program P3 is transferred to a main storage device 200 to execute the processing, a central controller 100 designates an address of a magnetic disc to an auxiliary storage device 300, namely, an auxiliary storage control circuit 310 and instructs the circuit 310 to transfer the program P3 to the main storage device 200. When receiving this transfer instruction, the auxiliary storage control circuit 310 discriminates the magnetic disc having this designated address. In accordance with this discrimination, the auxiliary storage control circuit 310 reads out the transient program P3 from a magnetic disc storage circuit 330 and transfers it to the main storage device 200 through an I/O bus 210. The similar operation is performed hereafter, and the auxiliary storage control circuit 310 reports the completion of transfer to the central controller 100. The central controller 100 starts the processing of the transient program P3.
