PURPOSE:To automatically prevent a refrigerant from leaking by a method wherein the part subject to probable leak of refrigerant such as the surface of bellows type pipes is coated with a leak-preventive material hardening in reaction to any leaking refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:The surface of bellows type pipes 10 is coated with organic or inorganic base high moleculer compound (hatched part) to be hardened by coming into contact with leaking refrigerant. Therefore, even if a pinhole is happened to be made in the bellows type pipes 10, any refrigerant leak can be automatically repaired by the high molecular compound to be hardened eliminating the downtime of device for repair. When water is used for the refrigerant, it is recommended that a polymer synthesized by making reactive polysiloxane react to multifunctional silane compound in the anhydrous state is applied to the organic or inorganic base high molecular compound since such a polymer, after hardened by reacting to any leaking, becomes a rubber type elastomer not to deteriorate the flexibility of bellows type pipes 10.
