In this seat belt system, the two belt clasps 22, 23 situated on the same side of the seat of a vehicle may be opened simultaneously with the aid of a cable control 5, by pulling a release handle 6. An emergency opening is thus obtained which is independent of the opening of the clasp 25 with normal actuation and which can be produced from outside the vehicle. <IMAGE>
