An oral aqueous pharmaceutical preparation which comprises an aqueous emulsion of a water-insoluble pharmaceutically active substance, preferably a fat- soluble vitamin, and a combination which imparts to the preparation what is essentially microbial solubility, where the combination comprises ethanol at a concentration of 3-12 per cent by weight (preferably 5-10 per cent by weight), calculated on the total preparation, and a monosaccharide or disaccharide or a pentahedric or hexahedric alcohol, or a mixture thereof, at a concentration which is less than the concentration at which the emulsion becomes unstable.
