The subject of the invention is the formation into a sheet of varied and unbroken straws. This sheet, having an unlimited length and a desired thickness, is prepared by a continuous and even tying of these straws. A simple unrolling of this sheet, with a few fixings, is sufficient to form a thatched roof. These sheets may also be used as insulation, wind-barriers, and protection for fragile products.
