PURPOSE:To improve the operability by using an incident ray for photographing to detect the white balance. CONSTITUTION:A white balance sensor 5 for detecting the incident ray from an object passing through a camera lens for photographing is arranged in a photographing optical system in the vicinity of an image pickup sensor 3. The photographing incident ray passes through the photographing camera lens 2, a part or all thereof is guided to the photographing sensor 3 and the white balance detecting sensor 5, thereby, if the photographing incident ray is interrupted due to a mistake in photographing or any accessories or the like even in the case of a black and white monitor, it is instantaneously represented as the alarm of the lack of the picture on a monitor screen, any mistake is paid attention and a photographer can apply a correct action and the mistake in photographing is not continued for a long period. Thereby, the operability is improved.
