The invention relates to a drying drum as part of a drying and mixing plant for the production of asphalt hot mix for road surfaces. The drying drum has a rotatably mounted drum body (3a) which at one end is closed by a fixed end wall (5) having a feeding-in device (4) for feeding in an aggregate and at the other end is closed by a further fixed end wall (7). Arranged in the second end wall (7) are an additional feeding-in device in the form of a feeding-in pipe which passes through the second end wall (7) is obliquely arranged and is intended for feeding in granulated salvaged building materials, a burner (9) for producing an open flame (10) intended for heating and drying the fed-in materials, and a discharging device (6) for discharging the asphalt hot mix formed in the drum body. The outlet end of the feeding-in pipe (12) is arranged in a region of the drum body (3a) located outside and under the flame (10) (Fig. 1).
