Biopsy adapter

A biopsy adapter to be fitted on the narrow side of an essentially cuboid ultrasound transducer for guiding an injection needle or cannula comprises a coupling device with which the basic body of the biopsy adapter can be fastened on the ultrasound transducer. The basic body comprises a guiding device with a guide channel through which the needle or cannula is advanced, so that it can penetrate the tissue at a defined angle beneath the aperture field of the ultrasound transducer. In order to ensure, even with different operating depths of the needle or cannula, that the tips thereof are located on the optical axis of the ultrasound transducer the guiding device is mounted so as to be pivotable in the basic body about an axis which runs parallel to the section edge of the narrow side and the ultrasound emergence surface. There is furthermore provided a locking means by which the guiding device can be fixed at the relevant pivot angle in the basic body.
