PURPOSE:To obtain a separator for fuel cell having low contact resistance under low surface pressure by forming an expansion graphite layer on the surface of a carbon plate comprising a rigid material. CONSTITUTION:Artificial graphite powder and acetylene black are mixed together with novolak type phenolic resin vanish serving as a binder. The mixture is molded at about 130 deg.C to obtain a resin bonded carbon plate 2. The carbon plate 2 is inserted between expansion graphite sheet and they are molded at about 170 deg.C to obtain a separator for fuel cell. Since the expansion graphite sheet 1 has soft structure, contact resistance of the separator with an electrode can be decreased, and steady contact resistance can be obtained under low surface pressure. |
