PURPOSE:To smoothly perform the reoperation of a cell without heat insulation and purge with N2 gas by keeping phosphoric acid electrolyte in a freezing condition during storage and sealing M2 gas in a reaction gas chamber. CONSTITUTION:When the operation of a cell 1 is discontinued, supply of fuel to a fuel reformer 2 is stopped, and a fuel supply valve 3 and an air supply valve 4 are closed. An exhaust valve 8 is opened and fresh air introduced from a valve 9 is passed through a cooling line to cool the cell 1. Residual reaction gasses in the cell 1 are quickly purged by using N2 gas supply valves 10, 11. Cell temperature is decreased by the outside air flowing through the cooling line and when it is decreased to the outside air temperature, a blower 6 is stopped, and the valves 8, 9 are closed. At the same time, N2 gas supply valves 10. 11 are closed and a fuel gas exhaust valve 3' and an air exhaust valve 4' are closed to seal N2 gas in each reaction chamber of the cell 1 before the cell is stored. The cell is stored in a condition in which the atmospheric temperature is 17 deg.C which is the freezing temperature of phosphoric acid or less. |
