PURPOSE:To obtain a color image having a proper surface gloss, high optical density, coloring uniformity, resolution, water-proofness, rich coloring property, high abrasion resistance, preservability and visibility, by applying a processing liquid after feeding a plurality of inks. CONSTITUTION:In a color image forming method using a plurality of different- color inks on a material to be recorded consisting of an ink transportation layer and an ink holding layer, a processing liquid is applied after feeding a plurality of inks. The processing liquid used for the image processing may be whatever liquids provided that they are soluble into dye contained in the ink used. But water is preferable from a viewpoint of drying process required in the later stage. In addition, when this processing liquid is fed by an ink jet system, a liquid having the same liquid physical property as an ink liquid medium like a mixture of water and organic solvent is preferable. Further the processing liquid may contain surfactant, penetrant, various inorganic and organic salts and other various additives. |
