PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce the dimension in the longitudinal direction of a main cabinet body and to drive cross-flow fans on both indoor and outdoor sides by a single fan motor by such a structure that the indoor side and the outdoor side of the air conditioner are divided into upper and lower parts respectively, indoor fans and outdoor fans are disposed at upper and lower parts respectively, and a fan motor is interposed therebetween and making it possible to blast air in the direction of the indoor side and outdoor side. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a main cabinet body 10 is divided vertically into upper and lower parts, the upper part being an outdoor side and the lower part being an indoor side. At the time of operating the air conditioner, two cross-flow fans connected to both sides of a fan motor 18 rotate in the same direction. As a result, on the indoor side, an air stream which is the same as the conventional airstream is produced. On the outdoor side, the airstream which has passed an outdoor heat exchanger 12 flows in the discharge port direction of a fan casing 11, and is curved in a U-shape by an auxiliary fan casing 13 and a tongue part 11a and flows out through a discharge port. Thus, the longitudinal dimension of the cabinet can be reduced and a single motor can be used without complicating the structure of the air conditioner.
