PURPOSE:To shorten the warming-up time in a boiler, by stopping a ball mill keeping a coal layer in the mill on high level at the time of stopping, by setting the coal layer on low level at the starting time, as well as to feed conveying air in the layer, and by gradually changing the level setting value from low to high. CONSTITUTION:When a boiler is stopped, a controller sets a coal layer in a mill on a high level C, which is higher than the setting value of an operation level A. When the mill is stopped (MST) on the high level C, the coal layer in the mill keeps the high level LC during stopping (ST). Before the mill is started again, the layer is set on the operation level A, and the level is gradually heightened until it restores the high level C. Coal is not stoked at the time of starting (SA) because a setting level is kept low at that time. Immediately after the mill is started (MSA), the level of a coal layer (LCL) is nearly as small as a level LA, that is the operation level A. A warming-up operation is completed by the time t0 when the coal layer restores the level LA after the level once goes down and some coal is stoked in the mill. As a result, the starting time of a boiler can be shortened.
