In order to achieve good sealing in normal conditions of fireproof glazing and owing to economic reasons, the sealing between fireproof glass panes (22, 26) and facade elements (10) and pressing strips (28) is effected via a combination of flexible sealing profiles (18, 34, 36) on which intumescent material (16, 38) is arranged in a suitable manner. In the event of a fire, after the flexible sealing profiles fail, the intumescent material assumes the sealing and retaining functions between the fireproof glass panes (22, 26) and the facade elements (10, 28). <IMAGE>
