Cylindrical concrete pressure vessel lined with a metallic liner

The object of the invention is to specify an economic prestressing system for a concrete pressure vessel lined with a metallic liner and which is intended to accommodate a gas-cooled nuclear reactor of low power (approximately 10 to 20 MW). Most favourable economically would be a concrete pressure vessel with loose reinforcement, since the vessel then has the lowest rigidity. In the light of the high loading of the metallic liner by tensile strain, it is impossible to adopt this approach. It is therefore proposed to design the prestressing of the concrete pressure vessel in such a way that the permissible tensile strain of the liner is precisely observed. Two alternatives are specified for implementing the invention: the lower prestressing of the concrete pressure vessel is accomplished either by a smaller number of prestressing elements or by a lesser degree of prestressing of the individual prestressing elements.
