PURPOSE:To raise the pressure in an exhaust pipe and increase the output of an exhaust turbine and thereby to enlarge the capacity of a compressor by providing a check valve in an exhaust passage between the exhaust pipe and an exhaust turbine inlet port. CONSTITUTION:As a piston 41 moves downwardly, an exhaust valve 44 begins to open at a point 4. Then, as the pressure in a cylinder 42 is higher than the pressure Pe in an exhaust pipe 23, some of the exhaust gas flows into the exhaust pipe 23. Further downward movement of the piston 41 causes the pressure in the cylinder 42 to become lower than the pressure Pe, and as the result, the check valve 24 is closed. Thus, there remains no possibility of reverse flow of the exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe 23 into the cylinder 42. When the piston reaches a point 5 and goes upwardly in the exhaust stroke, the pressure in the cylinder 42 increases and becomes equal to Pe at a point 6. |
