A housing for insertion in an intravenous delivery system comprises a receptacle (80) having an inlet (94) and an outlet (96), and a separate cartridge (310) having a chamber for receiving a beneficial agent. The access between the cartridge and the receptacle is provided through a single pierceable stopper (318) closing a mouth of the cartridge. The arrangement is such that fluid passes into the cartridge in an upward direction before passing down to the outlet.
