A compact ozone generating apparatus is constituted by a housing (14) fixedly mounting a high voltage transformer casing (15) from which projects a high voltage bushing (5a) and which casing fixedly mounts the open end of a cylindrical ground electrode tube (16) of an ozonizer (4) about the high voltage bushing (5a) with a brush (7) internally of the cylindrical ground electrode tube (16) directly connecting the high voltage bushing (5a) to the ozonizer (4). The ozonizer (4) further includes an electric glass discharge tube (8) mounted coaxially internally of the cylindrical ground electrode tube (16) with its open (8b) end proximate to the open end (16b) of the cylindrical ground electrode tube (16) and being spaced therefrom. A conductive bar (6) projecting from the high voltage bushing (5a) is connected to the brush (7) which spans across the interior of the electric glass discharge tube (8) adjacent its open end (8b) and whose ends contact a conductive film (9) lining the inner surface of the electric gas discharge tube (8).
