PURPOSE:To attain wide countermeasure to the word dictionary of ROM configuration by retrieving a correction dictionary to an erroneous part in the word dictionary of ROM configuration so as to extract a word in matching correctly with an inputted reading. CONSTITUTION:A dictionary retrieval circuit 4 retrieves the word dictionary by an instruction from a conversion control circuit 3 to extract a candidate and a word dictionary storage section 5 stores a KANJI (Chinese character) representation and part of speech information to a reading and has ROM configuration. Further, a correction dictionary retrieval circuit has a similar dictionary retrieval function as that of the circuit 4 functionally and a function correcting sequentially the correction dictionary. A correction dictionary storage section 9 is a correction dictionary to an erroneous part in the word dictionary of ROM configuration so as to extract a word in matching correctly with the inputted reading by retrieving the correction dictionary.
