PURPOSE:To simplify a circuit on a reception side by binarizing plural synchronizing signals, adding them as serial data made of one bit to data on video signals and transmitting the added data. CONSTITUTION:A video signal from a reproducing VTR 11 is implicitly converted into the parallel digital signal of eight bits, for example, and supplied to an encoder 14 in a recording VTR 12. In the VTR 11 a synchronizing signal SYNC, a color burst signal BURST and an auxiliary signal AUX are binarized and converted into the serial data of one bit. These signals SYNC, BURST and AUX are supplied to a decoder 13 through one signal line, decoded in the decoder 13 and supplied to the encoder 14. From information on lines and fields included in the signal AUX, the encoder 14 rearranges data, processes the signals such as adding parities, and records them on a magnetic tape 18.
