PURPOSE:To perform an operation that is so far processed as an error by producing a reciprocal of the data (y) when it is decided that the data (y) is not an integer and then performing an operation with the reciprocal defined as the data (y) in case said reciprocal is an integer. CONSTITUTION:When an operation of x<y> or x<1/y> is designated via a keyboard 10, a control part 11 extracts the data (y) out of a RAM 13 and decides through a deciding circuit 18 whether the data (y) is an integer or not. If the circuit 18 does not decide the data (y) as an integer, the part 11 supplies the data (y) of the RAM 13 to a reciprocal producing circuit 17 for production of a reciprocal 1/y of the data (y). Then the circuit 18 decides whether the reciprocal 1/y is an integer or not. When the circuit 18 decides the 1/y as an integer, the reciprocal 1/y is supplied to an arithmetic circuit 15 as the data (y). Then the circuit 15 performs a designated operation. Therefore the designated operation is carried out with no error processing even though the data (y) is not an integer in a designation mode.
