PURPOSE:To greatly improve the liquid leakage resistance of a cylindrical alkaline dry cell by coating the surface of a collector rod, where it makes contact with a packing, with an adhesive made mainly from pitch and chlorosulfonic polyethylene. CONSTITUTION:In a positive electrode can 1 which also serves as an electron collector of positive electrode, a positive electrode 2, which has been made by pressure-forming a mixture of a positive electrode active material and an electric conductive material into a cylindrical shape, is pressureinserted. Central hollow of the positive electrode 2 is filled with a negative electrode 4 gelled with amalgamated zinc powder and a gelling agent, via a separator 3 impregnated with alkali electrolytic solution. An end of the negative electrode collector rod 5 is fixed to a sealing cap 6 which also serves as a negative electrode terminal. The surface of the collector rod 5 where it makes contact with a packing 7 is coated with a solution where an adhesive 8 consisting mainly of a mixture of pitch and chlorosulfonic polyethylene is dissolved into an organic solvent such as toluene. The coating is dried to lose stickiness on its surface forming a coat of the adhesive 8. The collector rod 5, over which a coat is formed by applying the adhesive 8 and drying it, is pressure-inserted into the packing 7 and the opening of the positive electrode can 1 is sealed with the sealing cap 6, the packing 7 and the collector 5. |
