PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having improved stability and insecticidal effect of the constituent insecticide and capable of easily and effectively exterminating head louse and crab louse, by compounding a pyrethroidal insecticide with specific amounts of a specific methylated cyclodextrin and a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The objective shampoo composition is produced by compounding (A) one or more kinds of surfactants, (B) a pyrethroidal insecticide (especially allethrin, rethmethrin or phenothrin) and (C) a compound of formula (A is CH3 or H; n is 6-9; at least one of 3n A groups is CH3), especially a mixture of methylated beta-cyclodextrin having a weight-average ether-substitution degree of 8.0-11.0 and containing >=50wt% methylated beta-cyclodextrin having an ether- substitution degree of 8-11. The amounts of the components A and B are 5-30wt% and 0.1-10wt%, respectively and that of the component C is 0.5-20 pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the component B. Since the composition stably contains the component B, it enables the extermination of hair louse and crab louse simultaneous to the shampooing of hair. The composition is stable even at a low temperature.
