PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To permit the easy surface roughening of a carbon film and to obtain a medium having good lubricity and durability by coating a thermosetting material contg. an evaporatable material of pulverized particles on the carbon film and etching the carbon film after a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:The carbon film 5 is formed with graphite as a target on a magnetic disk substrate (nonmagnetic substrate 2) having a recording layer (continuous magnetic layer 3) consisting of a gamma-Fe2O3 magnetic material. An org. resin film 7 consisting of the thermosetting material subjected to a suspension treatment by the evaporatable material 6 is then coated on the film 5. The pulverized particles of the material 6 evaporate and many fine and small pores 8 are formed in the org. resin film 7 when said resin film is subjected to the heat treatment. The film 5 is removed by reacting with the plasma of oxygen in the hole 8 parts when the film is subjected to plasma etching. The org. resin film 7 remaining on the film 5 is thereafter removed. A lubricating film which has a small coefft. of dynamic friction and obviates the generation of head suction is obtd. When a liquid lubricating agent is coated thereon.
